Kowalski the Penguin is the tallest and the most intelligent of the Penguins in The Penguins of Madagascar, Madagascar, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Being the smartest, he is the team's medic, inventor, strategist, and scientist. He has an irrational fear of dentists and may tend to over-analyze situations. As lieutenant, Kowalski takes notes for Skipper and occasionally forms plans in the group. Although Kowalski can read mathematical equations and type, he does not know how to read anything besides numbers and and diagrams. Kowalski has a love interest for Doris the Dolphin, who was mentioned in Gone in a Flash, Driven to the Brink, Hot Ice, and Love Hurts.
