Edwina is known to keep secrets of her egg laying discontinued from the other hens because she didn't want them to be involved to the same fate as her.

She was killed by Mrs. Tweedy at the beginning of the film and eaten by Mr. Tweedy, because she was no longer able to lay eggs for the past week, so she was no longer useful to their cause. She refused to inform her fellow hens of her infertility, either because she didn't want to make them look infertile, and risk their lives, or because life at the farm had made her suicidally depressed. Mrs. Tweedy then grabs Edwina and takes her to the chopping room. She then places her head on the wood log and then chopped her head off. After that, Edwina was eaten and all was left is her bones.
